Muscle man Mickey Rourke is back in the new movie “The Wrestler” and this is a comeback movie for the not so old rourke and this time will play the lead role as Randy “The ram” Robinson which was a wrestling superstar in the 80’s.

In The Wrestler Movie , Randy Robinson is becoming an aging man who works at a grocery store, occasionally grappling with other has-beens for paltry cash and puny audiences. It was during those days when he was with an intense match sends him into cardiac arrest, his doctor tells him it’s time to call it quits and could not wrestle anymore. Now a reborn Randy falls for a 36-year-old stripper marisa  tomei and reconnects with his alcoholic daughter, but he can’t resist the lure of the ring, and arranges one final match against an old (dare we say elderly?) nemesis called “The Ayatollah” and so there was mickey rourke’s big break not just in the movie but in real life as an actor.

The Wrestler is directed by darren aronofsky and had won the Golden Lion Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival.

As an added information mickey rourke is an ex-boxer, the director’s first choice for the role, underwent wrestling training for the role and reportedly delivers an Oscar-caliber performance.

Oscar-winner Marisa Tomei who plays the role as a stripper also trained hard for her part so you wouldn’t want to disappoint her by missing her pole-dancing scene:-)
